1. Preethi Pal has etched her name in history at the Paris 2024 Paralympics by becoming the first Indian athlete to secure a medal in track events, achieving a bronze in the women's 100m T35 category on Friday. 


The 23-year-old para-athlete achieved a personal best time of 14.21 seconds, finishing behind Zhou Xia and Qianqian Guo from the People's Republic of China, who recorded times of 13.58 seconds and 13.74 seconds, respectively. 


The T35 classification is designated for runners who experience coordination impairments, including hypertonia, ataxia, and athetosis.

Preethi Pal, born on September 22, 2000, is a para athlete hailing from Uttar Pradesh, India. Originating from Meerut, she faced challenges due to cerebral palsy in her early years, which hindered her access to adequate medical care in Meerut. Currently, she trains in Delhi under the guidance of coach Gajendra Singh, who also coaches Simran Sharma.
