PBKS vs MI, Match Highlights: Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan Dazzle As Mumbai Stitch Record Chase At Mohali

Mumbai Indians registered a 6-wicket win over Punjab Kings in yet another high-scoring affair at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Wednesday. MI initially won the toss and opted to bowl first, conceding 214/3. In response, the five-time winners did not have a very good start to their innings when they lost Rohit Sharma for a duck in the very first over of the chase before Cameron Green fell in the last ball of the powerplay.

However, the partnership between Ishan Kishan (75 off 41) and Suryakumar Yadav (66 off 31) worth 116 from 55 balls for the third wicket help set up the win for MI. They had a buttle of a stumble when the two set batters departed in successive overs but Tilak Varma and Tim David did the rest to ensure MI clinch the two crucial points. This was the highest succcessful chase at this venue and the second highest that MI have chased down successfully in the history of the competition.

Earlier, PBKS were at one stage 95/3 in 11.2 overs and it looked unlikely that they end up scoring well in excess of 200. That was made possible courtesy of a brilliant partnership between Liam Livingstone (82* off 42 ) and Jitesh Sharma (49* off 27). The two batters added an unbeaten 119* off 53 balls which propelled the PBKS to the score that they eventually posted.

However, as it turned out it was Piyush Chawla's spell that was also a massive differntiator between the two teams. On a match where pretty much all bowlers were taken to the cleaners at some stage, Chawla returned with figures of 2 for 29 in his 4 overs, conceding 7.25 runs an over.

As far as PBKS bowlers are concerned, Nathan Ellis picked 2 for 34 and Rishi Dhawan finished with 1 for 20. Arshdeep Singh also got a wicket but went for 66 runs in 3.5 overs. MI's pace spearhead Jofra Archer also had an evening to forget with the ball in hand, going for 56 runs in his 4 overs.

Both MI and PBKS now have 10 points but Mumbai have played a game less and their better net run rate means they are now sixth at the table compared to PBKS who are now seventh.
